The Gun Behind Your TV Hero
A special effects rifle featured in this April 1961 issue’s ‘Gun of the Month’ spotlight was used on The Rifleman TV series to create realistic near-miss gunfire scenes. Though never seen on screen, it played a crucial behind-the-scenes role and now resides in The B.B. Hudspeth Collection.
Gunsmoke: Celebrating the 65th anniversary of the longest-running Western in TV history
A pant’s belt worn by James Arness on Gunsmoke from B.B. Hudspeth’s collection served as the model for the ‘Marshal Matt Dillon’ belt that was reproduced by Chisholm’s Trail Old West Leather in 2020 made available for fans to purchase. See Hudspeth’s belt on page 24 along with Arness’ screen-used Colt SAA and Arvo Ojala holster he helped document that sold in 2014 for $50,000.
